How to Tell If you are in a Cult

Oh no! Are sensing that one of your social groups are becoming sketchier by the week? There are lots of different groups these days and all for different reasons. These groups range from support groups to soccer teams, and unfortunately to cults. What is a cult you may ask? Well, a cult is a social group defined by its unusual religious, spiritual, or philosophical beliefs and values or by its common interest in a particular desire or goal. Now that doesn’t sound so bad but just think of some of the infamous cults; The Manson Family, Children of God, Scientology (Cue Stefon jaw-dropping face). Anyways, it’s tricky knowing if you are actually in a social group or a cult. But never fear, we have provided some tips here to help you figure out if your mid-day Monday Pilates is actually a cult.

• Does your group have a leader who makes all the decisions?

• Are the men that are a part of it dating multiple women in the group?

• Is your leader name Tom Cruise?

• Does this group require you to kill people because their beliefs aren’t the same as yours?

• Is this group suspiciously funded and when you ask where they are getting the money from, they disregard the questions?

• Is your leader named Doc Antle and does he have multiple girlfriends?

• Does you leader not go by his real name?

• Are you not allowed to leave this group?

• Is Tom Cruise apart of this group?

• Does this group illegally traffic wildlife?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, especially the ones pertaining to Tom Cruise, you are most likely in a cult.
